Presentation: previous and preview of work by Elisa Marchesini
Elisa will talk about both her autonomous visual artwork, and her engagement with the social context of fashion through her work.
She will introduce her ‘Clothing Display’ research that she will develop during her stay at hanarerad (Feb/March 2010). This research aims to explore and develop future displays of clothing and their function within the (re-)presentation of fashion.

Elisa Marchesini (Dutch / Italian, 1983) is a visual artist. She graduated with honours from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2006 and is based in Amsterdam. Marchesini's working methods can be compared to that of a modern-day anthropologist: deconstructing and unravelling existing frameworks mainly connected to the representation of fashion. Working in a wide range of media, i.e. installations, photo series and performances she investigates the various relationships between body-space-time-garment, and questions protocols within the mechanisms of production and presentation in fashion. Her work is presented simultaneously in art and fashion related environments, such as the Arnhem Fashion Biennial, Amsterdam International Fashion Week, Milk Gallery New York City, Zendai Museum of Modern Art Shanghai and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.

Interesting People in Residence省略IPRの第四弾！2010年1月14日から1月31日まで、イスラエル人ドキュメンタリーフィルム作家ナダフ・ハレルがhanareradに滞在します。期間中は、塩についてのドキュメンタリー作品を取るフィルムディレクターを主人公にした「Salt」という作品の制作を行ないます。イスラエルという地の作家とここ京都でどのようなアイデアを交換することが出来るのでしょうか。

1月9日から京都芸術センターで開催されるPOINT展
これは、日韓の若手アーティストが、一つの場に集まって作品を展示することを重要と考え、参加アーティストが自国ならびに他国の批評家・キュレーターとの国を超えた交流を行うことで実現した、国際ネットワーク・プロジェクトです。
この展覧会に出展しているアーティストの橋本さん、藤井さんと、キュレーターの住友さんが今日からhanareradに滞在。
ちなみに、昨日から廣瀬さんも来られているのでhanareradにぎやかです。

Interesting People in Residenceの2回目！10月5日より、今年の夏にスウェーデンより帰国したデザイナー／アーティストの坂根裕太がhanareradでレジデンス滞在＆制作を行います。滞在期間約一ヶ月で、構想、リサーチ、ワークショップ、制作、発表、記録までのすべてをおこなうOne Month Programです。限られた時間の中で都市を経験し、その中で得られたアイデアをヴィジュアルを通して表現、制作の過程や展示の状況も含めた記録を作成します。プログラムの状況は随時blogで公開していきます。

Located in the beautiful area of Kyoto, we will be inviting artists, academia, activists, farmers, architects or anyone who has creative/interesting ideas that challenge social norms, and has potentials to change the way our society is oriented. Started as a weekly cafe´ in 2006 and now entering its fourth year, hanare is a project space that collectively and dynamically searches out ways of realizing a better world, through the weekly coffee house project, "Kissahanare," workshops, lectures and political visual projects. It attempts to engage with the emergent social issues relevant to life today: food, art, politics, urban planning, cultural theory, farming, and more! hanare also works together with people from various fields who are experimenting with creative projects to find ways of practicing a new, spontaneous way of living. While hanare's work has its roots firmly in the local Sakyo district of Kyoto, it also wishes to be a space with direct links to other regional towns and cities in the world, and an independent place where critique and creativity are nurtured. hanare continues to expand its effort to be a 21st century social & cultural center.
